The Hegel Society of America

The Twentieth Biennial Meeting of the Hegel Society of America

Columbia, South Carolina

October 24-26, 2008

The information below will be supplemented as details become available.  Please check back frequently.

Accommodations:

A block of rooms has been reserved, at the rate of $116 per night (single/double), at The Inn at University of South Carolina (visit www.innatusc.com for full details).  The Inn is located just five minutes, by foot, from the main campus (including The Horseshoe, part of the original college, which dates from the early 1800's).

Transportation:

Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), about 6 miles from downtown, serves the city of Columbia and surroundings. Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and US Airways all fly into this airport. A taxi ride to the university will cost about $22; and plans are now being made to arrange van-shuttle service for Hegel Society members who arrive for the conference on Friday.

City Information:

Columbia is the capital of the state, founded as such in 1786. The city's population is about 116,000, but it is more if the metropolitan region is included. Temperatures in late October are usually between 65 and 75 F (18-25 C).
